Last Friday, Andrei Trapeznikov, a member of the energy holding's board who oversees relations with the media, said at a press conference that RAO is now studying the legality of Mr. Deripaska's structures acquiring a blocking stake in the Boguchanskaya HPP under construction. At the same time, according to a source close to Mr. Deripaska, who refused to comment on the essence of the claims, in an open war with aluminum workers, “some managers are trying to prove to Anatoly Chubais that they are defending the interests of RAO,” and thus in the context of a redistribution of powers in the management of the holding get more functions under your control.
The energy holding found out, Mr. Trapeznikov said, that the acquisition of a stake in the Boguchanskaya HPP was carried out at the expense of money from the Krasnoyarsk HPP, controlled by Mr. Deripaska. “The issue of acquiring a stake in the Boguchanskaya HPP was not considered by the board of directors of the Krasnoyarsk HPP, which is a violation of the law,” says a member of the board of RAO. At the same time, he clarified that information about such a violation was received quite recently, and therefore neither a statement to the court nor any other measures have been taken yet: “The lawyers are working,” explained Mr. Trapeznikov. Meanwhile, the deputy general director of Krasnoyarskenergo, which owns a blocking stake in the Krasnoyarsk HPP, Vladimir Efimov, meanwhile sent a letter to the general director of the Krasnoyarsk HPP, in which he asks for clarification of the fact that the company acquired shares of the Boguchanskaya HPP without the consent of the board of directors.
At the same time, a source close to Mr. Deripaska claims that the claims of a member of the board of RAO are incomprehensible to him: “Why, if we are shareholders of the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Plant, do we have to inform its board of directors about our intention to acquire shares of a completely different company?” - he is perplexed. Regarding the fact that, as Mr. Trapeznikov claims, money for the purchase of shares of the Boguchanskaya HPP was seized from the Krasnoyarsk HPP, Mr. Deripaska’s associate was not ready to give clear information yesterday and promised to provide it this week, but expressed doubts about the reliability of the statement representative of RAO: “Could it really be that we couldn’t find our own money to buy shares and began to “expose ourselves” in this way? It’s unlikely that this could happen.”
Meanwhile, RAO is currently redistributing responsibilities between members of the board - as is known, the management of the energy holding is now divided into divisions, but their structure has not yet been approved. Under these conditions, each manager, like ministers in the new government, is, as they say, “pulling the blanket over themselves,” since each area of activity is not only a headache, but also significant financial flows.
Mr. Trapeznikov is a longtime associate of Mr. Chubais, almost the longest working with him hand in hand. This circumstance allows some experts from the aluminum industry to assume that he is now trying to influence his boss and gain some privileges, apparently lost after the failure of the Union of Right Forces in the Duma elections (Mr. Trapeznikov was one of the leaders of the SPS election headquarters). However, other experts believe that, as a loyal comrade, he speaks on behalf of Mr. Chubais, who has “gone underground” (perhaps his activity will appear after the government is fully formed). However, it cannot be ruled out that Mr. Trapeznikov has personal scores to settle with the aluminum industry: he has never yet managed to win numerous PR wars with colleagues from Russian Aluminum and Basic Element.
