The Argentinean Gason Gaudio was the first to go to the final of the male single tournament of the French open championship in the tennis, having outpassed David Nalbandan in the semifinal match with a score of 6: 3, 7: 6, 6: 0. The 25-year-old tennis player, who was not even sown at the current Roland Garros, took 2 hours 26 minutes to win the Argentinean derby.
Gaudio, who played the first in his career, the semifinals of the Bolshoi helmet tournament, quite easily managed to win the first set, but in the second batch the struggle unfolded: Nalbandan led with a score of 5: 2, and managed to lose his presentation twice. His opponent translated the game to a tie-break, where he finished off the broken finalist Wimbledon 2002 with a score of 7: 5. In the third set, the finally demoralized Nalbandan could not take a game at all.
Later it became known that the final of the tournament will also turn into a confrontation between Argentina’s representatives, not one of which reached the decisive match of Roland Garros since 1982 (then Guillermo Vilas has been succeeded). Gaudio’s rival will be a Guillermo Coria, who won the Englishman Tim Henman in the second semifinal match with a score of 3: 6, 6: 4, 6: 0, 7: 5.
The Coria, which stopped last year in Paris in the semifinals, this time justified the high third sowing number, managing to turn the course of the match of the match with Henman. An hour after the start of the meeting, nothing foreshadowed such a denouement: having won the first batch rather confidently, he led 4: 2 to the second British on his presentation. However, his opponent found the strength to turn everything upside down - he makes a break on Henman’s serve, and then takes control of his game for a long time, having sequentially win 13 geims.
The victorious series of the Argentinean was interrupted only in the fourth set with a score of 3-0 in his favor. It was a second fracture in the match, which seemed to be able to influence its outcome. Henman came to his senses, and after a while he had already submitted to the set with a score of 5: 4. However, he could not win the Game at his presentation - the Argentinean equalized, and then quickly brought the match to victory.
So, on June 6, Gason Gaudio and Guillermo Coria will share the main trophy of the male single tournament of the French open championship. And a day earlier, a female finale will be held, in which representatives of one country - Russians Anastasia Myskina and Elena Dementyeva will also play.
