Will the State Duma reduce tariffs for “automobile”?

The State Duma will consider amendments to the Law on Compulsory Motor Insurance, Gazeta.Ru reports .

According to the source, the amendments being introduced are aimed at depriving insurers of excess profits from the “motor citizen”. In particular, the option of reducing the price of the insurance policy is being considered. According to Vladimir Tarachev, a member of the State Duma Committee on Credit Institutions and Financial Markets, deputies will choose between reducing tariffs, introducing benefits for certain categories of citizens and changing insurance ratios.

The deputy believes that a block of amendments to the current law will be sent to the government after parliamentary hearings on the “motor citizen” are held on June 15. Since the beginning of the law, according to the State Duma, insurers have collected 39 billion rubles in insurance premiums, and payments amounted to 3.9 billion. “From this we can conclude that it is necessary to reduce tariffs, since this is an excess profit,” said Mr. Tarachev.
