| The TV presenter decided to try himself in an oil company Channel One Television was left without one of its faces. The host of the Vremya program, Kirill Kleimenov, decided to try himself in a new capacity - from now on he will be the press secretary of LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov and deputy head of the public relations department of the oil company. “It’s difficult to explain my departure in a nutshell,” Mr. Kleimenov told a correspondent for the Vremya Novostey newspaper. - This decision has been brewing for quite a long time. I can only assure you that this is not a matter of channel politics or salary. I just wanted to expand my range of opportunities and develop. The situation did not force me to leave, so my decision was not clear to everyone.”
However, Mr. Kleimenov, who began negotiations with LUKOIL last year, did not manage to leave television overnight. After all, he and Ekaterina Andreeva were considered the main “faces” of the information broadcasting of Channel One - they were the ones who alternately hosted the evening editions of the Vremya program. By the way, it was Mr. Kleimenov who hosted the historic news broadcast on December 31, 1999, informing the world about the resignation of Boris Yeltsin.
General Director of Channel One Konstantin Ernst temporarily suspended the process of retraining journalists as oil workers. Mr. Ernst, apparently, could not find an adequate replacement for Kleimenov, and he was not comfortable with changing anything in the channel’s news broadcasting during the pre-election period. However, last week the TV presenter’s resignation was accepted. His place on the evening news broadcast will be taken by Zhanna Agalakova. It is noteworthy that, according to the Vremya Novostey newspaper, when discussing the question of the second “face” of the nine-hour program “Vremya”, the candidacies of male presenters - Andrei Baturin and Pyotr Marchenko - were practically not considered.
Let us recall that Kirill Kleimenov, who has been working on the channel for more than ten years, became famous largely due to the removal of Sergei Dorenko from the air in 2000. The TV killer’s news program on air was then replaced by the release of the “Time” program with Kirill Kleimenov. Now he leaves the frame of his own free will. When asked by a correspondent from the Vremya Novostey newspaper about whether his return to television was possible in the future, Mr. Kleimenov could not answer unequivocally. “I wouldn't say I'll never come back. I don't get sick of television, I liked working there.
