Georgian military will be released

Georgian State Resident Georgy Haindrava said that an agreement was reached on the liberation of Georgian troops detained earlier on Thursday in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone of the South Ossetian side, Interfax reports.

"The agreement has been practically reached on the release of the captured Georgian military. Now the question is being decided on to let them go. The thing is when to let them go: at night or tomorrow morning. At night, it is undesirable to do this in order to avoid provocations," Haindrava said on the air of the Georgian television company Imedi.

In the negotiations, which Haindrava, according to Imtyedi, was attended by the deputy head of the Ground Forces of Russia for peacekeeping operations, Lieutenant General Valery Evnevich. The head of South Ossetia did not meet with Haindrava.

The leadership of South Ossetia has not yet reported an agreement on the liberation of the detained Georgian military.

Haindrava denied reports that the Georgian population was leaving the village in South Ossetia and said that Georgia was still adhering to a peaceful option for resolving the conflict in the region.

The United States condemned the hostage of Georgians

The United States sharply condemned the capture of South Ossetia by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, RIA Novosti reports.

"The forces of South Ossetia on July 8 in the South Ossetian conflict zone captured 50 Georgian hostages. The hostages, apparently, are the peacekeepers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia," the Bucker said, adding that the hostages "were built by force and put to their knees in the view of the great accumulation of people in the capital of South Ossetia."

“We condemn the seizure of hostages by the South Ossetian forces and believe that the treatment of them is outrageous,” the representative of the State Department emphasized. “We urge the authorities of South Ossetia to immediately release the hostages and avoid further provocations using violence,” he emphasized.

"We urge all parties to work on the immediate release of hostages and take steps to reduce tension. We believe that an intensive dialogue is the best way to ensure a peaceful solution that guarantees the territorial integrity of Georgia and will avoid further violence," the Bacaner said.
