In Moscow, the editor -in -chief of the Russian -speaking version of Forbes magazine Pavel (Paul) Khlebnikov was killed, Interfax was told in the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the capital.

At about 20:00 Moscow time on Friday, Pavel Khlebnikov left his office at 16 Dokukina Street. At that moment, fire was opened from the VAZ-2115 car of a dark color.

The victim received four bullet wounds and died in an ambulance carriage.

At the scene, more than a dozen sleeves of two different calibers were found. Thus, they noted in the Central Internal Affairs Directorate, most likely there were two shooters.

Pavel Yuryevich Khlebnikov , a descendant of the so-called "white emigration", was born in New York in 1963. He spoke Russian since childhood. He also mastered English, French and Italian. In 1984, Khlebnikov graduated from the University of California in Berkeley, with a degree in political economy. Then he entered the London School of Economics, where he received a master's degree in 1985 (dissertation: "Personnel policy of the CPSU, 1918-1985") and doctoral degree in 1991 (dissertation: "Stolypinsky agrarian reform and economic development of Russia, 1906-1917")

Since 1989, Khlebnikov worked in the financial journal Forbes. Among his article is the studies of a number of largest industrial companies, such as Daimler -Benz, Volkswagen, Renault, ASEA Brown Boveri, Xerox, Alcoa, Samsung. Its main specialization is the new Russian business. In December 1996, an article by Khlebnikov was published about Boris Berezovsky ("Cross Father of the Kremlin"), for which Berezovsky sued for slander in London. The oligarch won the process, and the case was closed.

In September 2000, Khlebnikov’s book “The Cross Father of the Kremlin was published in English: Boris Berezovsky and the looting of Russia”. The book was translated into Russian, German, French, Polish and Hungarian.

In 2003, Khlebnikov’s book “Conversation with Barbar” was published, based on conversations with the Chechen field commander Kozh-Ahmed Nukhaev.

Khlebnikov received four awards for his research on Russian business.
