The new president of Serbia is in the oath

The inauguration ceremony of the new President of Serbia Boris Tadich took place today in Belgrade. He was elected to this post on June 27 following the results of the second round of elections, ITAR-TASS reports.

Boris Tadich made a solemn oath to the deputies of the parliament in the presence of Prime Minister Voist Koshtunitsa and members of the Serbian government. The ceremony continued in the residence of the head of the republic, which is located opposite the parliament building.

In the presidential election, Boris Tadich ran for the Democratic Party, which he led after the death of Prime Minister Zoran Dvinzhich, who was killed in 2003. Tadich considers the entry into the EU to his strategic goal as president.

He also advocates strengthening the state community of Serbia and Montenegro, for a fair for the Serbian population to solve the problem of the region of Kosovo, whose Albanian majority insists on independence from Serbia.

Serbia has been living without the head of the republic since the end of 2002. Since then, the authorities held the presidential elections three times, but all three attempts have failed due to the failure to appear the necessary 50 percent of voters.
