The director of the "oligarch" took up the "dead souls"

On Monday, July 12, the famous film director Pavel Lungin celebrates the anniversary: ​​he is 55 years old. On the eve of this date, he began to implement a new film project called Dead Souls, but so far all his details are kept secret. Work on a new production will be carried out at the Mosfilm studio, ITAR-TASS reports.

A remarkable event was the film “Wedding” shown at the festival in Cannes, awarded the prize “For the best acting ensemble”. A great public outcry was caused by his last work oligarch. Pavel Lungin himself said that, creating a picture, he tried to "understand this life."

“I wanted to show how the struggle for freedom, for absolute freedom inevitably leads to conflict with the state, and in this struggle with the state, both parties turn into certain monsters,” the film director said. According to him, this film and "how the oligarchs have stood."

The film "Oligarch" was shot by Lungin according to the novel by Julia Dubova "Big Soldering". The director explained the change in the name of the film by the fact that in the word "soldering" there is a certain ambiguity that the director did not like. Explaining the choice of the source for the script, Lungin noted that, in his opinion, the "big soldering" is "the only book in which there was knowledge of reality."

Pavel Lungin was born on July 12, 1949 in Moscow, in the family of the screenwriter Semyon Lungin. In 1971, he graduated from the department of mathematical and applied linguistics of Moscow State University, and in 1980 the highest scenario courses.

In the cinema, Lungin made his debut as a screenwriter in 1976 by the film "All the matter in his brother." Then, according to his scripts, the films "The End of the Emperor Taiga" and "Invincible" were set. In 1990, according to his own scenario, he set the film "Taxi Blue", awarded a special prize for directing in Cannes.

Since the beginning of the 1990s, the director lived in France. At the Cannes Film Festival of 2000, Pavel Lungin's film "Wedding" was awarded a special jury prize for the best selection of actors.
