The Tu-22M3 bomber crashed due to the refusal of the generator

The reason for the disaster of the Tu-22M3 long-range bomber was the refusal of the generator, Interfax reports.

"This conclusion was reached by experts of the 13th Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation who completed the decoding of on -board recorders (black boxes)," a source in the commission investigating the reason for the flight incident said on Monday.

He noted that the bomber crew could not eject because the board was completely de -energized.

“After the generator failure for some time, the aircraft power supply was carried out at the expense of on-board batteries. But because of the headlights turned on, they quickly discharged and the catapults did not work, since the necessary voltage was not applied to them,” the source said.

The Far missile carrier-bomber Tu-22M3 of the Russian Air Force crashed on the night of June 9 in the Novgorod region. The plane fell five kilometers from the village of Soltsi on the Soltsi -Shinki highway. Four crew members died.
