US presidential elections can be postponed or canceled

The American authorities consider the possibility of postponing the date of the presidential election. This was reported to the influential Newsweek magazine by sources in the US Department of Internal Security.

The US intelligence services are seriously concerned about the intentions of Al-Qaeda to arrange powerful terrorist attacks on the eve of the presidential election. Employees have no specific data on the preparation of explosions or sabotage in the country, however, fragmentary radio interceptions of terrorist conversations indicate that for November 2004 “something large” is outlined, Newsweek notes.

Analysts fear that any terrorist attack that occurred immediately before the elections can significantly affect their outcome. An example of this can be considered the influence that explosions in Madrid in March this year have exerted on the elections in Spain.

Newsweek sources report that Tom Ridge’s internal security secretary has already sent a request to the Department of Justice about the possibility of transferring or canceling the presidential election. One of the main difficulties that the authorities will face, if the decision to postpone elections is still required, this is the problem of authority. In the USA there is not a single body that has the authority to change the date of the federal elections.

This was stated by the chairman of the recently created commission to promote the election of Souris Saeris.

“In order to ensure the safety of elections, we study all possible options for the development of events,” said Brian Rorkassa, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Internal Security.

The fears of the US leadership of possible terrorist attacks are based on numerous warnings of special services and "leaks" common in the media. Only today in the United States two warnings are widespread about large terrorist attacks on the eve of the elections.

Fox television company, citing unnamed sources in the US intelligence services, reported that the Al-Qaeda International Terrorist organization is considering Wall Street as a goal for its next US blow . Among the possible goals are other financial institutions of the country.

He admitted that intelligence services have not yet have specific data about the time, place and nature of the alleged terrorist attack, but they do everything to get them.

At the same time, Tom Ridge said that the American administration is not going to raise the level of terrorist danger, which remains increased - "yellow".

Al-Qaeda threatens to blow up passenger aircraft flying to the United States from South Korea

Today, South Korean radio reported that the air transport department of South Korea received a letter from Thailand the day before, which states that a certain terrorist of Indian descent under the name Abdul Rajab would try to blow up one or more aircraft operating in the United States.

The message also indicates that Abdul Rajab, associated with al-Qaeda, must arrive in Seoul on a plane on Monday, RIA Novosti reports. According to the radio station, a letter with such threats could also receive at the US Embassy in Seoul.
