Vanun was not allowed to leave Israel

Israel's High Court of Justice has denied former atomic scientist Mordechai Vanunu's request to have the restrictions imposed upon him released upon release, Ha'aretz reports. The court cited national security considerations as the rationale for its decision. Since his release after an 18-year sentence, Vanun has been banned from communicating with foreign journalists, traveling outside the country, and changing his place of residence without two days' notice.

According to the publication, Vanunu did not expect a positive court decision and violated the prohibitions even before it. On Sunday, the London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Khayyat published an interview with Vanunu, in which he, in particular, accused the Mossad of involvement in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
