
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree "Questions of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation," the press service of the head of state said on Monday. This decree approved the Regulation on the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
It is allowed to have four deputy ministers at the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, including the first two deputy minister, as well as four heads of services of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation who enjoy the rights of the Deputy Minister.
The maximum number of the central apparatus of the Ministry of Defense was also established, Interfax reports.
The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Ivanov said that the number of the central apparatus of the Ministry of Defense, including military personnel and civilian specialists, will be 10,350 people.
"The President, the Supreme Commander, strictly determined that the maximum number of the central apparatus of the Ministry of Defense will be 10350 people, less than 0.5% of the staff of the Ministry of Defense," Ivanov said on Monday to journalists.
“This is a fairly compact figure. We will carefully ensure that the central apparatus does not grow and perform its tasks,” the minister emphasized.
“I would like to emphasize that the provision on the Ministry of Defense for the first time in history is determined by the number of central apparatus, before this was never and implied that the several abstract central apparatus of the Ministry of Defense consists of the central bodies of military administration, the General Staff, the chief men, types and births of the Armed Forces, the main and central bodies of military administration,” the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation noted.
