In the first half of 2004, the Russian automotive market was agitated by loud revelations of "werewolves in uniform" from the traffic police, who were engaged in the legalization of stolen extra-class foreign cars. Since such “gray” schemes began to be applied almost on an industrial scale, many Russian owners of prestigious cars, if not out loud, then thought to themselves: “Does my car have a “clean” one?
Nevertheless, these events did not affect the overall growth in demand for expensive prestigious foreign cars. For example, you can buy a brand new Ford Focus, Mitsubishi Lancer or Chevrolet / Niva only 2-3 months after contacting any of the numerous car dealerships, and even then, subject to a 20% prepayment.
In September of this year, such experiences of potential owners of expensive foreign cars will sink into oblivion. You will no longer have to worry about the legality of the "origin" of the purchased car, and even more so to stand behind it in a long queue. A fundamentally new automobile shopping center (ATC) will open in Moscow on Kashirskoye Highway, which will be a kind of automobile megamall. For the first time in Moscow, all the leading world and Russian manufacturers of vehicles will be represented in one hypermarket.
The total area of the buildings of the complex will be 130,000 square meters. The 35,000 sq. m. building will house permanent auto expositions, where you can see all kinds of models, choose the appropriate option and purchase it. Nearby on five levels (95,000 sq. m.) there will be parking for 2,000 cars, car washes, service stations and more than 500 auto accessories and spare parts stores. The management of the complex expects to create all the conditions for attracting buyers by gathering the leading car brands and the best examples of products from the global automotive industry in one area.
According to the State Customs Committee, only from January to March 2004, 93.8 thousand cars were imported into Russia. Compared to the same period last year, imports of foreign cars increased by 17% (80,000 cars in the first quarter of 2003). It is obvious that the domestic automobile market is experiencing rapid growth, sales of foreign cars are also growing at the official representative offices of foreign automakers. That is why, according to many experts, investments in a fundamentally new form of work in the automotive market - in the construction of an automobile multi-brand hypermarket - are logically justified. According to a study conducted by the VTsIOM analytical group, 85 percent of buyers turn to specialized stores, and half of them believe that an automobile hypermarket will simplify the procedure for buying a car.
In the new automobile hypermarket, special attention is paid to both the technical safety of the building structures of the pavilion, which meet the highest international building standards, and safety in organizing the future daily work of the megastore. In addition, the ATC provides a whole range of additional services that buyers of new cars have already become accustomed to: a car service and maintenance station, bank offices that issue loans for the purchase of cars, tire fitting, a car wash for 8 posts and a tuning studio. For recreation, visitors are offered restaurants and cafes. Also, presentations of new products of the automotive industry, exhibitions and motor shows of individual brands are planned in the new automobile center.
This format of the automotive shopping complex is beneficial not only for buyers. Thus, car dealers who will take part in the project will be able to get retail space on more favorable terms than if they created a separate showroom for each of the brands. This fact was acknowledged by more than a dozen representative offices of Western concerns, which have already agreed to place their brand showrooms in the automobile shopping center on Kashirskoye Shosse, because they are well aware that such a car retail format has proven itself well abroad. So there is reason to believe that the auto-multimarket will become a popular phenomenon in the dynamically developing Russian market.
