Little is still known about the requirements of the school invaders in Beslan. Officials remain silent and refuse to publish the demands of the bandits, but the survivors in the bloody massacre heard what the abductors wanted. The Spiegel TV television correspondent managed to talk with the victims.
According to the German weekly Spiegel , in the first two days the terrorists demanded the resignation of four presidents: the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, as well as the presidents of Chechnya, North Ossetia and Ingushetia. Only on the last day did the terrorists demanded the withdrawal of troops from Chechnya. This was told by German journalists by 10-year-old boy Sergey Karavaev, who was injured during the capture and is now being treated in one of the hospitals.
Sergei was at school with his mother. Unfortunately, she did not survive.
After taking hostages in Beslan, the stream of official information is meager, notes Spiegel. The Russian authorities say that the number of victims is 338 people, 90 of them are still not identified.
