Moscow requires the cessation of activities in Lithuania of the Chechen terrorists "Caucasus Center"

The Russian Foreign Ministry demanded the cessation of the Caucasus Center of Chechen terrorists in Lithuania. On Monday, the Ambassador of Lithuania to Russia Rimantas Shidlauskas was called to the Foreign Ministry, before which the issue of stopping the activities in Lithuania of the aforementioned site was raised, ITAR-TASS reports.

"Infantry in the face of the continuation of the site on the Lithuanian server will be considered in Moscow as an openly unfriendly step of the Lithuanian authorities, which negatively affects the atmosphere of our bilateral relations," the Russian foreign policy said.

However, the Lithuanian authorities do not intend to suspend the activities of the Caucasus Center site before the court decision, the country's ITAS-Attash said the country's Foreign Ministry of the country Mindaagas Lashas on Tuesday. Without a court decision, “neither the Foreign Ministry nor the State Security Department can take and close this site,” the diplomat noted.

Members of the Lithuanian journalistic ethics commission at the meeting on Tuesday considered the issue of the work of the Caucasus Center website and, after a thorough study of publications presented for examination, came to the conclusion that its activities do not contradict the laws of the country.

So far, the official structures of Lithuania have not addressed the operator of the Caucasus Center site - the company Elneta information technologies. This was announced on Tuesday on the air of the Echo Moskvy radio station by Rimantas Pashis, director of the company.

At the same time, according to him, the procedure to close the site has already begun. The ethics of journalists and publishers has already been presented, "the commission must give a conclusion, is there a threat, inciting national, religious razor," Pashis said.

Only on the basis of this conclusion, official structures can apply to the court, which will solve the issue of the possibility of continuing the work of the site, he explained.

Currently, the Caucasus Center website works, Pashis said. At the same time, he did not rule out that the site may not be available to all users: some providers in Russia can close access to this site for their users.
