The Iraqi authorities arrested in Baghdad an assistant Muktada al-Sadra

The Iraqi authorities arrested in Baghdad one of the assistants to the radical Shiite leader of the Muktada al-Sadra-Sheikh Khazim al-Araji. Al-Araji, reports the Sava radio station, was detained by the Iraqi police with the support of American troops in his house in the Baghdad district of al-Kazimiya.

His arrest, the report said, was carried out "as part of a series of arrests of leaders of the AS-Sadra movement held in various cities of Iraq." On Friday evening, the British troops occupied the AC-Sadra office in the Iraqi city of Basra (550 km south of Baghdad).

During the ensuing shootout with the action films of al-Sadra, three of his supporters were killed. One British soldier was injured. During a search in the AC-Sadra office, a large number of weapons were found, including RPG, and ammunition, RIA Novosti reports.
