New building (second working season), new director - Stepan Grigorenko, a lot of new plans announced at the press conference.
Last season, the center mainly rented out its stage to homeless theaters. Now he will have his own production - two or three premieres a year. In addition, together with the "Theatrical Partnership 814" (headed by Oleg Menshikov), the center is announcing a competition - you can send an application to create any performance to info@tt814.ru (not only drama - modern dance, puppet and children's shows are possible ). They will support those who seem to the agency to be the most “honest and responsible”. The declaration says: “The main question of this program is not the question “how?” Because many have learned to answer this question quite briskly. We think it's time for another creative challenge. Time to try to answer the question “why?”
The center, which previously started performances at 19.00, is changing its format. Now at seven in the evening performances will begin in the cafe (actually, a theater buffet), and these will be small performances (one, two, three artists, an hour of time). And on the stage, “large form” performances (as large a form as possible for a small venue) will begin at nine. Upon completion, the café will still be open. That is, the center is going to smoothly transform from a “theater” into an “arts club.” Open to the public - by ticket only.
The “Red Diploma” program begins - the best student performances will appear on stage (in the near future - performances by Gitis students, students of Sergei Zhenovach), there is an idea to support Russian-language theaters in the CIS and Baltic countries (the Lesya Ukrainka Theater will arrive from Kyiv at the end of September), and also show arthouse and archival films. Several areas of future activity were illustrated by the program of the "New Wine Festival".
The club, “seven-hour” component was indicated by the actors of the St. Petersburg “Russian Engineering Theater AXE”, who presented “Electric Cabaret”. It was inspired by poor communal life - tattered kettles, homemade electrical wiring, terrible rags... Two actors read aloud from cards "12 moralizing poems by Pushkin" and tried to put pressure on simple human feelings: in the midst of squalor, some piece of wood with a propeller moved along a string (like a children's toy) - happiness! But lit sparklers were distributed to the public - the people were touched. Everything is fine, but the idea that very little is needed for happiness requires a fairly rich public.
The “student play” “City of Mice” was staged fifteen years ago by Eduard Radzyukevich for fellow students at the Shchukin School and since then has been performed several times a year on rented stages. The course, which should have stayed together - their drive would have been enough for a new business, did not find support and dispersed to different theaters, but the invented name "Scientific Monkey Theater" remained. The "Archive Film Program" was presented with the marvelous cartoon "Optimus mundus, or the Best from the worlds", filmed in 2000, but not widely released. The film is assembled from tiny variations on the Moscow theme - they were created by fifty animators from twenty countries. In this cinematic Moscow, buildings designed but not built ( including the Palace of Soviets), and the metro was dug by the Tatar-Mongols, who were unable to storm the white-stone Kremlin and therefore started undermining Yes, and Yuri Luzhkov discovered Moscow from space - and then pointed it out to Yuri Gagarin.
In October, the center on Strastnoy will host the competition of musical projects "Ethnica", the Internet festival "Theatrical Web", performances by Igor Larin and Evgeniy Grishkovets.
