In Moscow, 25% of the population suffers with obesity, up to 30% - overweight. About 40 thousand Muscovites have the most complex, third degree of obesity. This was announced by the head of the Commission on Health and Public Health of the Moscow City Duma Lyudmila Stebenkov at a meeting of the commission, Interfax reports.
According to her, Russia is included in the top ten countries with the largest number of diabetes patients. According to official figures, 5 million people suffering from this disease are registered in the country. However, experts indicate that in Russia there are about 8-10 million people with diabetes, including in a hidden form.
Every year, Russia spends 100 million rubles, and Moscow - 10 million rubles for the purchase of insulin. In the capital, there are 40 thousand insulin -dependent patients.
More than half of Muscovites are at risk of diabetes. According to her, in addition to a hereditary predisposition, the most common cause of diabetes is improper nutrition, which, as a rule, gives rise to overweight and obesity.
According to Stebenkova, proper nutrition is understood as "close to the physiological ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates in food." In particular, the following proportions are classic: 15-20% of the total number of calories should account for proteins, 25-30%-for fats and 50-60%-for carbohydrates. The content in food of table salt (including finished products) should not exceed 5-6 grams per day, sugar - up to 10 teaspoons.
At a meeting of the Moscow City Duma, it was decided to create a working group to develop a draft federal law "On the mandatory provision of consumers with information on the content of sugar, fat and salt and the norms of their daily consumption in food products."
