In the elections to the Taiwan Parliament, the opposition wins

In the elections to the Taiwan Legislative Assembly, an opposition coalition led by the Gomintan party won. According to the latest data counting, the opposition has already received 115 out of 225 seats in parliament, ITAR-TASS reports.

The main struggle in the elections unfolded between the opposition bloc and the democratic progressive party (DPP), the leader of which is the head of the island administration, Chen Shuybyan. With the victory of Homintan, a political situation will remain on the island when the opposition blocks the political initiatives of the head of the executive branch.

In Beijing, Chen Shuybyan is accused of separatist moods: he pursues a policy of increasing the procurement of weapons from the United States and intends to hold a referendum in 2006 on the adoption of the Taiwan Constitution.

The central authorities of the PRC emphasize that if the island goes to the proclamation of independence, mainland China will be forced to use military force.

Gomintan is mainly the interests of the Taiwanese business, the investments of which in the economy of mainland China reach $ 100 billion.

The party advocates the restoration of trade flows between the banks of the Taiwan Strait and believes that there are no prerequisites for the proclamation of state independence yet.
