The Russian Orthodox Church offers to fill on March 8 with a new content

The holiday of March 8 should not be canceled - it is much better to fill it with new content, according to the head of the department of external church ties of the Moscow Patriarchate (MPC MP), Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad Kirill (Gundyaev) .

“In general, in the light of the Christian doctrine of a person, the holidays on a sexual basis are nonsense. God created a man and a woman - a single creation, and, of course, emphasize on the holiday the sexual difference between some and others is at least strange,” the Metropolitan of Orthodox Russia said at the “Orthodox Rus”, Interfax reports.

On the other hand, the feat of women in Russian history deserves special respect, Metropolitan Kirill added, emphasizing that "it was women who retained faith in Rus' in Soviet times, when it was dangerous to be believers."

"If a person has reached a certain position, then a visit to the temple could end for him to remove from all posts, the deprivation of everything that he has, and few dared to challenge the surrounding atheistic environment except our women," the metropolitan said.

“We are all saved by our grandmothers. Holy Rus' was preserved only because Orthodox women retained faith when their husbands and sons were stuck,” he said, adding that for the sake of this feat, he was ready to offer any day a year as a holiday.

Metropolitan admitted that for him on March 8, this is primarily a memory of the feat of those who preserved the Orthodox faith. "This is not a day of international solidarity, there is no party meaning for me either. I pray for our women that day," the lord said.

As for the Orthodox Women's Day - the Week of the Holy Wives -Miroanist, this holiday is not yet national, the metropolitan recalled, urging not to dramatize this circumstance.

"I would not say: let's open the campaign to cancel on March 8, few people will understand us. But let's fill this day with a different content, let's say more that the ideological basis that was once mentioned in the basis of this holiday works and that no one thinks about this ideology in our people," says Mitropolitan Cyril.
