Decent hotels were not enough for Russians in Bratislava

Preparations for the summit in Bratislav between Vladimir Putin and American President George Bush were not smooth for Russians. The lack of hotels in the Slovak city, one of the smallest capitals in Europe, seems to work against Russian participants, writes Financial Times (the translation of the article publishes the site inopressa.ru ).

According to Slovak officials, the Russians expected the Slovak government to organize housing, and therefore they were not in a hurry and waited that all the best hotels were booked before them.

After demanding to immediately throw out all the guests and threatening to settle in a nearby Vienna, the Russians eventually managed to achieve the provision of a state hotel for them. There is only one problem. The hotel is called "Borik" - the Slovatsky "Little Boris", and this can be interpreted as an ironic commentary that Putin is a protege of former president Boris Yeltsin.

However, Putin may be comforted by the scale of the problems that have collapsed on his internal opponents. The producing activists who were promised by Slovak visas this week announced the refusal - on the grounds that all hotels in Bratislava were busy.
