Houston authorities are concerned about the sharp growth of anti -Semitic incidents and acts of vandalism in the city and its environs.

“The police say that they have never seen the receipt of such a large number of reports about anti -Semitic crimes over such a short period of time,” the Houston Chronicle newspaper writes on Thursday.

According to the local branch of the Jewish Protection League, from September last year, 14 incidents were registered in the Houston area, the newspaper notes.

Most incidents are acts of vandalism. The appearance of swastikas and inscriptions "Death to the Jews!" Was repeatedly recorded. On the doors of the two synagogues, swastikas on the windows of the Jewish Student Center, as well as insulting inscriptions for Jews on the walls of buildings, road bridges and parks. In some cases, on telephone auto -winners of Jewish organizations, unknown persons left entries with threats.
