The protest is directed mainly against violations that, according to the protesters, were committed during the first round of parliamentary elections, which in the republic turned into a “family affair” for President Akaev. Now the daughter and son of the head of state who won these elections will sit in parliament. Or they won't. If the revolution gains power and momentum, it may happen that the new high-ranking deputies will have to neglect their duties and follow the example of the governor of the Jalal-Abad region.
