
Over the entire period of the counter -terrorism operation in Chechnya, more than 6 thousand troops of the federal forces and police officers were killed, more than 8 thousand were injured. The prosecutor of Chechnya Vladimir Kravchenko reported on Thursday in Grozny at a round table meeting on the problems of interaction between authorities and civil society.
According to the prosecutor, the criminal situation in Chechnya is stabilizing. Last year, 1589 crimes were registered in the republic than in 2003. The number of serious crimes decreased by 32%, 40% - intentional killings.
According to Kravchenko, in the framework of the amnesty of the members of illegal armed groups from criminal liability, 205 people are released, "all of them participate in recovery processes in the republic," ITAR-TASS reports.
The prosecutor of Chechnya noted that the system of combating crimes that has developed in the republic "allows you to keep the situation in the region under control." According to him, during the years of the counter -terrorism operation, 143 criminal cases against military personnel were instituted. There is reason to believe that some of them are involved in the commission of crimes.
The crimes committed by police officers do not remain unpunished. In 2004, 53 criminal cases were instituted against the policemen who had stopped the law. 30 policemen were convicted of various charges in 2003, and in 2004 24 criminal cases initiated against employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were sent to the courts.
