Morocco prevents an attempt to mass suicide of unemployed

In the Moroccan capital, Rabata prevents an attempt by mass suicide of the unemployed group. A group of 48 unemployed subjects of the kingdom, who called themselves members of the national autonomous organization, threatened to set fire to themselves on Thursday if they were not provided with work.

The members of the group claimed that they were waiting for the work promised by him by King Morocco Mohammed VI for ten years. Recently, they announced a sedentary strike, but the authorities did not respond to their action. After that, the lambs decided on the extreme measure.

However, the act of self -immolation was not destined to take place. According to RIA Novosti , the police learned in advance about the impending suicide. The law enforcement officers arrested eight protesters on charges of trying to arson.

“17 liters of gasoline and several bottles of incendiary mixture were seized from the group members,” the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Morocco told reporters. “According to our data, they planned to set fire to the buildings of some ministries located nearby.”

For their part, representatives of a group of strikers claim that the police beat protesters and several people were seriously injured.

According to the Morocco Constitution, the king has the right to distribute vacant jobs in the military or civil service. However, these places are not enough for everyone. Unemployment in the kingdom is massive. The official figure is 15% and is one of the highest in North Africa. The level of unemployment among Moroccan youth is even higher - almost 50%. More than 120 thousand graduates of universities are deprived of the opportunity to work in their specialty.
