"Kurekhin." Premiere of a documentary film by Vladimir Nepevny about one of the most significant avant-garde musicians of the late 20th century, Sergei Kuryokhin. After the screening of the film, there will be a concert of musicians - participants of the Sergei Kuryokhin International Festival SKIF-9 Sergei Letov (saxophone), Safety Magic, Samosad Band, Pep-See. Gene Jackson (drums), Adam Rogers (guitar), Boris Kozlov (double bass), Alex Sipyagin (trumpet). The American jazz quartet will play from March 25 to 27 at Le Club , 20.00.

Garik Osipov (aka Count Khortitsa). French, Italian pop music of the 70s and 80s, Soviet restaurant repertoire. March 25 at the Bilingua club, 22.00.

Svet Boogie Band (Minsk). Blues and boogie-woogie of the 30s-50s. March 25 at “Apshu” , 22.00.

Hamza El Din (Nubia - USA). A superstar of ethnic music, combining Arabic, African and European musical traditions, vocalist and master of the Arabic lute and Egyptian tar drum, will give one concert at the “House”. March 26 at 20.00.

“Pakawa It.” Almost exclusively the brass band (except banjo) plays instrumental music based on Balkan gypsy motifs and elements of jazz. March 26 in the “OGI Project” , 22.00.

Fun Funk Fest. The largest funk festival in Russia. Participating are Funk You!, Clean Tone, “A. Channel", Felix Lahuti and Funky Land, Sunlight, Funky Stereо (Murmansk), Elefunk (Russia - Singapore - USA - Goa), DJ Zhenya Lurie and DJ Urfin. March 26 in "Orange" , 21.00 - 6.00.

American evening at Apshu. A Cleveland All Stars & Los Aybolitos concert, a screening of old American movies, whiskey and 60s dancing are planned. March 26 at 22.00.

Current Poetry Festival. Poets Linor Goralik, Dmitry Kuzmin, Stanislav Lvovsky, Ksenia Marennikova, Tatyana Moseeva, Dina Gatina, Dmitry Vodennikov will read their poems. March 26 at Cool Train , 5 p.m.

CONCERTS

Omara Portuondo (Cuba). The world's most famous Cuban singer, a participant in the famous project Buena Vista Social Club, will perform on the stage of the Moscow Art Theater on March 25. Gorky , 19.00.

Big Symphony Orchestra named after. Tchaikovsky , conductor Vladimir Fedoseev and soloist Sergei Nakaryakov (trumpet) will perform Tchaikovsky's "Italian Capriccio", Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" and Harutyunyan's Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra. March 25 in the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow House of Music , 19.00.

Martial Solal (France). The famous jazz pianist will perform as part of a special program of the International Competition of Jazz Performers. March 25 at the Pavel Slobodkin Center , 19.00.

The National Symphony Orchestra of Russia and conductor George Cleave (USA) will play Symphony No. 41 ("Jupiter") by Mozart and Symphony No. 4 by Schumann. March 26 in the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow House of Music , 19.00.

Olivier Latry (organ; France). The full-time organist of Notre Dame Cathedral and professor of organ at the Paris Conservatory will play works by J.-S. at the only concert in Moscow. Bach, Franck, Gigou, Vierne, Langlais, Duruflé, Messiaen, Esqueche, as well as his own compositions. March 27 at the Concert Hall. P.I. Tchaikovsky , 19.00.

Symphony orchestra conducted by Pavel Kogan and soloist Denis Matsuev (piano). The program includes works by Glazunov, Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky. March 27 in the Great Hall of the Conservatory , 19.00.

EXHIBITIONS

“Moscow--Warsaw / Warszawa--Moskwa. 1900--2000". An international exhibition project designed to compare the history of Russian and Polish art of the 20th century, demonstrating points of intersection, parallels, divergences and mutual influences. The exhibition at the Tretyakov Gallery included almost 400 works: painting, sculpture, graphics, photography, film and video. Read more about the exhibition on page 10. Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val , until June 12. In addition, today the exhibition “Beyond the Red Horizon”, presenting contemporary art of the two countries, will open at the State Center for Contemporary Art . See page 10 for details.
