Vasiliev and Fomenko moved to Ferrari
Alexei Vasiliev and Nikolai Fomenko, FIA Grand Touring champions in the 2004 N-GT class, in the 2005 season will be performed as part of the new Russian Age Racing team in the FIA GT championship, the RAMI.ru press service said.
For the first time in 5 years of performances in the international championship, Vasiliev and Fomenko will go in the GT1 class, in the Ferrari 550 Maranello car. Together with the Russian pilots, French Christophe Bouchut, two-time FIA GT champion, winner of 24-hour spa races, Dighton and Le Mane, will perform the team.
In 2005, the team will perform in 11 stages of FIA GT. The championship will begin on April 10 by a race in the Italian Monz and end with an Asian connection of stages in Dubai and Bahrain at the end of November. The stages will include races on the new routes for the championship in Turkey and Bahrain. The highway in Istanbul will be opened for the first time for Formula-1 race just 27 days before the FIA GT stage.
The partner in preparing the car will be the English team Cirtek Motorsport.
It is also officially confirmed that the Russian team was admitted to the start of "24 hours of Le Mana." Last year, pilots Vasiliev and Fomenko became the first Russians in the history of the legendary marathon. In the 2005 season, the Russians will pass 5 LE Mans Enduraance Series races (1000-kilometer races in spa, Monz, Silverstone, Nürburgring and Istanbul), and on June 18 they will start in the "Greater" Le Mane.
