The closing ceremony of the Moscow International Festival "Fashion and Style in Photography 2005" took place at the "Na Strastnom" theater center, where the names of the winners of the "Silver Wreath" competition for the best domestic photo project in the field of fashion and style were announced.

The presentation of the Silver Wreath award, established three years ago by the MDF and the Moscow government, is the traditional finish of the Fashion and Style in Photography festival. Prizes from Sony, MasterCard, Motorola, PIO Global, CK Watches & Jewelry, Bosco di Ciliegi, Nescafe, Calvin Klein, Beeline, the Hennessy Social and Cultural Foundation, the City Hall of Paris and the European House of Photography are given in six categories.

This year the ceremony opened with special awards. Director of the Moscow House of Photography Olga Sviblova presented the prize “For Contribution to the Development of World Photography” to William Klein. The famous photographer was the chairman of the jury, and it would have been clearly impolite to let him leave Moscow empty-handed. Following him, Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe was sent to Paris for an internship. A man who for many years transformed himself into a variety of characters in world history, starting with Marilyn Monroe (hence the nickname that became a surname), has long and successfully used photography in his projects. He will be able to continue his experiments on people at the Cite des Arts in Paris.

In the nomination for young authors "Nadezhda" the work of Yulia Bochkova "Me and My Friends" won. Vladimir Fridkes received a prize for the project “The Fire of My Armchairs,” which he made for AD magazine. Evfrosina Lavrukhina, author of an advertising project based on the film "Night Watch", is the winner in the category "Photographer working individually." Andrey Artemov was awarded in the “Stylist” category for the project “Strength Test” for L`Officiel magazine. The “Private Collection of Ekaterina Rozhdestvenskaya” for the magazine “Caravan of Stories” was recognized as the best idea for the project, and the artist Vladimir Dubossarsky was awarded in the category “Best Photo Project” within the framework of the “Current Mobilography 1” program.

The Silver Wreath award, which is supposed to support photographers working in glossy magazines, did not bring any surprises this time. Almost all the names of the awardees have long been known: the cumbersome project of Ekaterina Rozhdestvenskaya has long been promoted at numerous exhibitions, and Vladimir Fridkes is considered by many photo critics to be one of the best magazine photographers in Russia. At the last festival he already received awards, albeit in a different category, but for the series made for the same AD - “Silence of Gold” and “Roadside Picnic”. This means only one thing: there are still few new names in glossy photography. But if there is no revolution, then stability can be considered a normal outcome.
