The parliament of Kyrgyzstan allowed Bakiev not to resign if the presidential election

The parliament of Kyrgyzstan rejected the bill obliging the acting President Kurmanbek Bakiev to resign the powers of the head of state if he is running for the presidential election.

With the necessary 38 votes, 35 deputies voted for the bill, against 25, RIA Novosti reports.

The bill makes amendments to the election code according to which the highest officials of the country should resign in case of participation in the presidential election. Supreme officials include president, prime minister and regions.
