
The reason for the fire in the television center "Ostankino" was overheating of the equipment. As ITAR-TASS reported today at the Federal Press and Mass Communications Agency (Rospping), the fire service experts came to this opinion, who studied all the circumstances of the incident that occurred on April 11 in the television center studio.
The fire occurred due to the "thermal effect of the emergency fire hazardous mode of operation of the AP-50-SMT protection apparatus, which is a lack of design of this electrical device", the Russian Ministry of Emergencies in Moscow said in the television and technical center.
It notes that on the fact of a fire, the criminal case is refused, since the human factor is not seen in the incident.
Initially, firefighters considered a short circuit of the power grid the main version of the causes of the fire. Immediately after the incident, the head of the press service of the fire service of the capital, Yevgeny Bobylev, said that as soon as the fire began, fire automatics "worked instantly in the television center."
The focus in the collector between the second and third floors was discovered quickly, otherwise, according to firefighters, the consequences could be much more serious. If the fire spread through the cables that pass throughout the television center, Ostankino would have been caused significant damage. There was no open burning as such, the premises were strong smoke.
The total area of the fire was relatively small - about 200 square meters. m, however, taking into account the fact that Ostankino is a strategic object, the third category of complexity was assigned to the fire. 428 people were evacuated from the building, the fire itself was completely eliminated for two hours, 27 fire bills, as well as rescuers, were involved in the fight against it. Technical equipment, interior decoration of premises and corridor, furniture and cable communications on an area of about 100 square meters burned in the premises. m.
Due to the fire in Ostankino, the TV channels Muz-TV, 7-TV and several FM radio stations did not work. At the same time, the incident did not affect the work of the central television channels - Channel One, Russia and NTV. They worked as usual.
A few hours after the fire, the work of Muz-TV, 7-TV, as well as radio stations normalized.
