The Kremlin cannot count arriving in Moscow for the celebration of the Victory Day of Western Leaders

The manager of the President of the Russian Federation, the head of the organizing committee for the preparation of the main events related to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Vladimir Kozin said on Thursday that today the heads of state and governments of 53 countries confirmed his participation in festive events in Moscow.

"To date, arrival in Moscow was confirmed by 53 heads of foreign states, UN Secretary General, Chairman of the European Community Commission and UNESCO General Director," the presidential manager at Interfax said in Moscow.

In one figure, Kozin was definitely not mistaken, saying that the leadership of Estonia and Lithuania officially refused to participate in the upcoming celebrations in Moscow.

Kozhin also said that among those invited to the celebrations in Moscow there are also former heads of states who participated in the Anti-Hitler coalition, in particular the former Polish leader Wojciech Yaruzelsky, ex-head of Cyprus, as well as the former King of Romania Mikhai, who, as the presidential managers recalled, is the only living cavalier of the Order of Victory.

“In addition, and first of all, we are waiting for veterans from the countries of the far abroad - the pilots of the legendary regiment of Normandy -Neman, fighters of the army of the Polish and Czechoslovak corps, participants in the Warsaw and Slovak national uprisings, activists of anti -fascist resistance, including from Germany and the Baltic states,” Kozhin said.

According to Kozhin, about 8 thousand guests, including 5 thousand veterans and all heads of state and governments that will come to Moscow, will be present at the Victory Parade on May 9. At the same time, he noted that about half of the veterans will be on the rostrum, and about half will take part directly in the parade.

He also said that more than 6 thousand journalists are accredited to cover the holiday events in Moscow.
