As previously reported, the Accounts Chamber conducted an audit at Rosneft in 2001-2002 and identified a number of violations related, in particular, to income tax benefits. As a result of these violations, according to auditors’ calculations, the federal budget did not receive 15.3 million rubles. In this regard, the Accounts Chamber asked the tax authorities to verify the identified facts. Interregional Tax Inspectorate No. 1 for the largest taxpayers conducted an on-site tax audit of the company and, as a result, proposed to recover about 1 billion rubles from Rosneft. In particular, taxes in the amount of 527.8 million rubles, penalties in the amount of 366.7 million rubles. and a fine of 105.6 million rubles. As noted in the report of the Accounts Chamber, the head of the inspection, Alexander Efimov (now the inspection is headed by Vladimir Vasiliev - Ed. ) refused to bring Rosneft to tax liability, despite the violations identified by tax inspectors.
“Rosneft strictly complies with tax legislation, as well as all reasonable requirements of the tax authorities,” the company told Vremya Novostey yesterday, declining to comment in more detail.
As is known, Gazprom is seeking a complete takeover of Rosneft (without Yuganskneftegaz), and the management of the oil company and its political curators are trying to defend the right to control commodity and financial flows during the formal transfer of shares to the gas monopolist.
