In Chechnya, a riot policeman committed suicide

In the Grozny region of Chechnya, an riot policeman from Mari El committed suicide. According to Gazeta.ru, citing Interfax, a fighter of the OMON operational platoon under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Mari El, 25-year-old police foreman Alexei Ivashin, while on duty, moved a few meters away from the checkpoint and shot himself in the head with an AK-74. He died at the scene.

This happened on Thursday evening at a checkpoint near the village of Goryacheistochnenskoye. At the moment, a check is being carried out on the fact of the suicide of a policeman, witnesses of the incident are being interviewed. The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that Ivashin went on business trips to the Chechen Republic 5 times. The last time he left for Chechnya was on December 5 last year and was supposed to return home on June 5. In the near future, Ivashin's body will be delivered to Yoshkar-Ola.
