The American magnate Malcolm Glazer agreed to buy a control package of the Club of the English Premier League Manchester United and offered 790 million pounds ($ 1.5 billion) for the remaining share, Reuters reports with reference to the statement of the company representing his interests.
Red Football Ltd, acting on behalf of Glaiser, said that she had reached an agreement on the acquisition of 28.7 percent of the Manchester United shares from John Magnican and J.P. McManus at a price of 300 pence per share, besides 28.1 percent already at its disposal.
As a result of the transaction with Irish businessmen, Glazer will receive about 56.9 percent of the richest football club in the world and, in accordance with the British market rules, may claim the remaining share in the club.
"Glazer is now at the helm, although he had to show some unfriendliness in the absence of approval of the board of directors," said Richard Ballas, a stock manager from Rensburg Investment Management, which owns a small share of MJ shares.
Glazer began the operation to buy a club in 2004 and gradually increased his share, referring to the board of directors of MU on the purchase, but received a refusal due to disagreement for the sale of large shareholders, including the Irish.
Manchester United shares at auction in London rose in price by 12.83 percent to 298.5 pence.
