Vladimir Putin, by decree, awarded a group of employees of the capital’s metro with state awards for labor success and many years of conscientious work in connection with the 70th anniversary of the metro.

Accepted the proposal of the Russian Ministry of Culture to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the Russian State Theater in 2006. The corresponding order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov. The head of government instructed the Ministry of Culture to form an organizing committee to prepare and conduct the celebration, as well as approve a plan for the main events that will be held as part of the anniversary. Expenses for celebrating the birthday of the Russian State Theater will be allocated from the federal budget for 2005-2006. In connection with the celebration of the anniversary, the Prime Minister instructed a number of ministries to provide in 2005-2006, “based on the possibility of the federal budget, the allocation of funds for the reconstruction of buildings and technical re-equipment of the Russian State Academic Drama Theater named after Pushkin and the State Academic Maly Theater of Russia.”

The Legislative Assembly of the Penza region approved the current head of the region, Vasily Bochkarev, as governor of the region. Of the 43 deputies present at the extraordinary session, 42 people voted for this decision. One is against it. Last week, the President of Russia submitted Mr. Bochkarev's candidacy to the regional legislative assembly to give him the powers of governor. Vasily Bochkarev has headed the Penza region for seven years. The majority of Russians do not have free money, sociologists from the Public Opinion Foundation state.
