
In Sochi today, by 19:00 Moscow time, work was completed to eliminate the consequences of the fire at the transformer substation (TP) "Vereshchaginskaya". The city is fully recorded by electricity, ITAR-TASS said the operational duty officer of the Main Directorate for Civil Defense and Emergencies of the Krasnodar Territory.
The fire occurred on TP on Saturday at 12:40 as a result of a short circuit, which led to damage to power equipment. This, in turn, caused a disconnection of another 117 TP.
The city television center, a blood transfusion station, cleaning structures of the seaport, a number of social and cultural purposes, including rest houses and sanatoriums, turned out to be de-energized. About 12,000 people were left without light.
As stated in the temporary operational headquarters created in Sochi electric networks, the situation could have more consequences if it were not for the previously carried out repair work in the Central District of the city to restore worn cable lines.
Thanks to this, transit through the Vereshchaginskaya substation, between the adjacent TP Dagomys and the Sochi TPP, it has been closed. "To date, the wear of networks in the Sochi Energoraion is 60-80 percent.
Today, a special commission has been created at Kubanenergo OJSC, which should establish the causes of the accident.
