The Jazz Festival in Arkhangelskoye will be held this year too
Last year the festival “Russian Style. Estate. Jazz" turned out to be a real surprise both for lovers of all kinds of parties and open-air, and for lovers of the actual improvisational music of the modern domestic sense. This year the concept has not undergone any changes. According to the brand manager of “Russian Style” Elena Andreyanova: “Our task is to create an event that unites great style and modern domestic jazz, even, perhaps, in the most accessible and youthful versions. In the museum interiors of the famous 18th-century estate, all this is perceived completely differently.”
Performances by Alexey Aiga, Alexey Kozlov, and Igor Bril are planned in a duet with Tetevik Oganesyan, a singer who became famous here in Soviet times and has been living in the USA for a long time. By the way, there will be many such repatriates - Leonid Ptashka from Israel, “Americans” Boris Kozlov and Alex Sipyagin. The last two, I really hope, show true uncompromising acoustic post-bop. For those who are disgusted by such bells and whistles, there will be a fashionable Billy's Band with an expanded lineup, the group "Luke" - that is, a side project of the vocalist of the group 5'Nizza. On the recording, by the way, it’s quite a nice thing, funky and perky. And also a new project by the leader of our main “alternatives”, the Tequillajazzz group Evgeniy Fedorov, The Optimistica Orchestra. The organizers do not hide the fact that they invited youth performers in order to attract the attention of a non-jazz audience. Well, the same The Optimistica Orchestra, it seems, has not yet given big concerts in Moscow, and the fan base of Fedorov and Tequila is very strong.
But the famous jazzman Alexey Kozlov sees a cure for bad taste in mixing genres: “In jazz music there has always been and still is chauvinism among music critics and professional musicologists, narrowly focused people who are afraid of revealing their incompetence in other areas and therefore immediately say about everything new: “ This is not jazz." They even talked about bop like that until the genius Charlie Parker appeared... In short, the idea of the festival is to remove this chauvinism.”
To see with your own eyes the fulfillment of Alexey Semenovich’s prophecy about the appearance of someone like a new Bird Parker, you still need to get to Arkhangelsk. And under your own power - metro - bus - the journey is not fast. The organizers promise to provide buses, and they will run back until 11 pm (that is, until the last performance, so that the “horseless” can catch the metro). Tickets are promised for 400 rubles - for this money you can enter the territory of the estate and walk around all the sites all day.
