Next winter, a real ice castle will appear in the center of St. Petersburg on Palace Square, where you can not only take a walk, but also spend the night. The best ice craftsmen have already begun working on its future design.

In January, construction of the ice palace of Empress Anna Ioanovna will begin on Palace Square. And around it there is a whole complex of all kinds of snow buildings, designed to amuse everyone who came to look at the masterpiece. The city authorities decided to remember the long-standing tradition, introduced in 1740, of building ice castles and other structures for people’s amusement. True, the first palace project, carried out in the 18th century on the Neva, turned out to be unsuccessful. The palace was so heavy that the ice of the river could not stand it, and the structure sank. The second palace was built in 1888 on the site of Dvortsovy Proezd. After this, the wonderful tradition slowly “died.”

Now the decision has been made to revive the ice fun. The initiators of the project have prepared many surprises for future visitors. An ice bath, for example, will be very hot. But the secret - how this can be - is not revealed. However, this project will not be limited solely to entertainment. It was during the time of Anna Ioanovna that they played a “funny” wedding. And next February in the very center of St. Petersburg it will be possible to get married in an ice church. Moreover, the ceremony will be available not only to city residents, but also to foreigners. They will also offer to spend their wedding night in the palace. For now, however, only extreme sports enthusiasts are not clear on how the rooms will be equipped. It is possible that the bed will be covered not with silk embroidered linen, but with bear skins.

Ice for the royal complex will be cut on Ladoga. Special freezing units will provide the necessary microclimate in the palace apartments. And the disappearance of the ice mansions is planned for the first month of spring.
