| Dagestan terrorists themselves found special forces On Saturday, a group of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB of the Russian Federation, led by the deputy head of the department for combating organized crime and terrorism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Yuri Demidov, arrived in Dagestan from Moscow to investigate another major terrorist attack. On Friday afternoon in Makhachkala, unknown saboteurs blew up a truck containing soldiers of the Rus special forces detachment of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. As a result, ten servicemen were killed and about 30 more were injured. Despite the fact that over the past two days in the Dagestan capital alone, more than 500 people were detained to check for involvement in the explosion, dozens of searches were carried out, the special services were unable to get on the trail of the terrorists. Meanwhile, on Friday, the Sharia militant group operating in Dagestan under the leadership of Rappani Khalilov, who is considered the organizer of all major terrorist attacks in recent years in the republic, took responsibility for this sabotage.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, two explosions occurred at 14.20 on Ataev Street, when three GAZ-53 trucks with special forces from the Moscow detachment “Rus”, assigned to the 102nd Buynaksk brigade of internal troops. As experts established, homemade radio-controlled mines filled with scraps of rebar with a capacity of 5-7 kg of TNT were laid between two pipes with hot and cold water, which go from the boiler room to the bathhouse. The first vehicle, which contained 27 servicemen, was damaged. Ten of them (one contract officer and nine conscripts) received severe injuries, from which six died on the spot, and another four died on the way to the hospital. The remaining 17 special forces soldiers were wounded, four of them are still in intensive care. In addition to the military, 11 bystanders, including one child, were also injured in the explosion in the courtyard of the bathhouse plant.
In January 2002, at the same place and according to a similar scenario, soldiers of the 102nd brigade were already blown up. Near the bathhouse building, a radio-controlled bomb went off in the path of a truck with 30 soldiers. Seven people died then. The perpetrators of the terrorist attack were soon arrested and convicted, and then it turned out that the mastermind of the crime was the same Rappani Khalilov. This time, the injured special forces soldiers were sent from Moscow to Dagestan just to conduct a special operation to search for sabotage groups that had been terrorizing the local police for six months. Almost every week, saboteurs detonate bombs in the path of patrol cars and near the buildings of the police department and prosecutor's offices. (The separatists carried out the last series of terrorist attacks in Dagestan on the night of June 26, when they blew up a police car, derailed a train and tried to blow up one of the schools.) But the special services are unable to get on their trail.
Immediately after the terrorist attack, the security forces of Dagestan stated that they had a number of suspects through whom it would be possible to trace the criminals. However, neither the Vulcan-5 interception plan nor the visit to hundreds of households, whose residents, according to operational data, may be in contact with the separatists, have yet produced any results.
Meanwhile, on Saturday night, the mouthpiece of the Chechen separatists, the Kavkaz Center website announced that a certain Shariat jamaat had claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the law enforcement agencies of the republic have not yet begun to comment on the data on the involvement of this jamaat in the terrorist attack, as well as on who is leading it and where and when it appeared.
