Russian cyclist failed a doping test for "Tour de France"

Evgeny Petrov, the Russian bike lifter of the Lampre team, is prohibited from reaching the 10th stage of the famous Bethany Tour de France, Eurosport reports. According to the results of a doping test, made on Tuesday morning, an increased level of red blood cells was recorded in his blood, which suggests an athlete of the forbidden drug - erythropoitin (EPO).

The 27-year-old Petrov was chosen from the number of 96 participants in the race randomly. In the next two weeks, he will have to go through another similar test that will establish whether there was an increase in the level of blood cells by the consequence of doping.

Evgeny Petrov became the first racer on the current Tour de France, which did not pass a doping test. Before the tenth stage of the race, the Russian took 45th place in the overall standings.

The world champion among youth was already the second representative of the Lampre team, who failed a doping test. In front of the Dauphin Liber race, a similar embarrassment occurred with the Italian Michele Scotto, who was later expelled from the team.
