Bill Clinton is the only living former US president who has not yet sent a detailed funeral plan to the appropriate service, the New York Post reports. By contrast, 92-year-old Gerald Ford, 81-year-old George H. W. Bush and 80-year-old Jimmy Carter have already provided elaborate scripts based on JFK's 1963 funeral ceremony.

George Bush Sr. most compactly outlined his recommendations on this matter. It fit on 211 pages. Carter's script was 411 pages long, while Ford's was almost 500. While specific details of the funeral ceremonies have not been made public, all three appear to prefer a memorial service at the National Cathedral and want their bodies to be laid out for remembrance at the Capitol.

The only recent president to wish to hold a state funeral outside of Washington was Richard Nixon. He was seen off on his last journey in California. However, Bush Sr. named the presidential library in Texas as his final resting place, and Ford also named the library he founded in Michigan.

In addition, it is known that Carter's script contains tables and graphs where it will be possible to enter the personnel involved in the funeral, track the transportation of the luggage of the deceased's family and record the number of wreaths and flowers appropriate for the occasion.

The scenario by Bush Sr., who was the youngest aviator in the US Navy during World War II, involves flying over the funeral procession of a fighter squadron.

All plans are written with military precision. They specify in detail how, when and where the remains will be transported, how many people should be fed and what to feed, how relations with the press will be built and video filming will take place, and also regulate other nuances related to the organization of a large-scale funeral ceremony.
