Didn't make it to the camp

On Wednesday, a bus with children was involved in a traffic accident in the Bratsk district of the Irkutsk region. According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, pupils of a correctional school in the village of Ilir were taken to the Priboy summer health camp on two KaVZ-685 buses. At about 14.30 local time, about a kilometer from the destination, 12 kilometers northeast of Bratsk, the second bus in the column, carrying nineteen schoolchildren and two teachers accompanying them, for an unknown reason lost control, slid into a ditch and overturned.

According to preliminary data from rescue services, fifteen schoolchildren aged 13 to 16 were injured. Both teachers were also injured.

The teachers, 24-year-old Tatyana Dudareva and 37-year-old Roza Voronovich, were also hospitalized there in a state of severe severity. One of them suffered a chest contusion and lacerations of the upper forearm, and the other was diagnosed with a closed craniocerebral injury. The condition of another schoolchild hospitalized at the Bratsk Central District Hospital, Andrei Gusakov, is assessed by doctors as satisfactory.

Doctors sent other victims to the Bratsk children's multidisciplinary hospital. Two 13-year-old schoolchildren are in serious condition: Olga Kleban, who received a blunt chest injury, and Alexander Moroz , who has a hip fracture. Another six wounded ( Mikhail Ivanov , Vasily Beznosov, Evgeniy Mikhaleshkin, Anatoly Dryzhuk, Angela Lukanina and Viktor Selivanov ) are in moderate condition. Almost all teenagers have a concussion, many have suffered fractures. The rest of the schoolchildren escaped with bruises and abrasions. The condition of three is assessed as satisfactory. Two more have already been discharged from the hospital. As Irkutsk doctors say, they did their best to save the wounded teenagers.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies of the Bratsk district are investigating the accident.

It is not yet known why the bus driver Valery Livinsky was unable to control the vehicle.

According to the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the Irkutsk Region, a criminal case has not yet been opened into the accident. Bratsk traffic police officers are conducting an inspection. According to the inspection staff, the technical condition of the bus was checked before leaving Ilir, and the driver was not intoxicated.
