Representatives of the movement "Our" and 15 other youth organizations held a crowded action in the capital of Mordovia demanding the ban on the activities of Jehovah's Witnesses in Mordovia, ITAR-TASS reports.
On the square in front of the Russia cinema, in which this religious organization holds its meetings, more than 500 people gathered, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic. Among them were people whose relatives were in the ranks of Jehovah's Witnesses, as well as representatives of the authorities. So, one of the organizers of the action was the youngest deputy of the State Assembly of Mordovia Alexei Steshin.
Representatives of the local diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church (Russian Orthodox Church) supported the participants in the action. Jehovah's Witnesses conduct anti-Christian activities and destroy families, ”explained Viktor Khokhlov, head of the missionary department of the Saransk Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.
This is not the first such action. Saransk youth has been picing the cinema "Russia" since last year. The organizers of the shares believe that the activities of witnesses are contrary to the policy of the state, since its supporters are forbidden to serve in the army, receive education, receive medical care, and participate in the elections.
According to the Office of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation on Mordovia, 9 religious faiths are currently operating in the republic. Jehovah's witnesses, represented by one organization, began their activities in 1999.
