The Pentagon intends to conduct a comprehensive audit of enterprises of the US military-industrial complex for their protection from possible encroachments by terrorists. Based on the results of the audit, the leading contractors of the military department will be proposed to eliminate any omissions and weaknesses that can be identified.
In the future, potential vulnerability for terrorist attacks can become the basis for depriving the owner of the appropriate production capacities of access to military orders. According to ITAR-TASS, with such a warning, the Assistant Minister of Defense of the United States for the protection of the national territory Paul Mcheil turned to the Pentagon’s business partners.
Speaking on Tuesday at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, he emphasized that the military department cannot but be considered a threat of sudden termination of the supply of weapons or equipment he needed. This means that manufacturers of such supplies should be reliably protected.
Most of them already satisfy this requirement, but "we cannot afford to have a gap or (loose) joints," Mcheil said. In the future, the costs of own security at the enterprises of the military -industrial complex will become an integral part of the cost of doing business, ”he added.
How much it is necessary to increase the level of corporate anti -terrorism protection and what investments this may require, the official, by his admission, does not yet know.
