The volume of funds in the Russian Stabilization Fund as of August 23 amounted to 832 billion rubles. In August, 111.1 billion rubles were credited to the Federal Treasury account for accounting for the fund’s funds.

Human rights activists intend to submit to the State Duma a draft of a new amnesty for Russian prisoners by the end of September. “We are raising the question that the amnesty should apply to 20-30 thousand people convicted of non-violent crimes. These are primarily minors, women with children, pensioners, and combatants,” said the chairman of the public council under the Russian Minister of Justice, member of the Moscow Helsinki Group Valery Borshchev.

For the post of vice-speaker of the State Duma, two candidates will be proposed from the Rodina faction (People's Will - SEPR) - Vasily Shestakov and Sergei Glotov, said faction leader Sergei Baburin. If a new vice-speaker from the faction is elected, Mr. Baburin will resign as vice-speaker.

The majority of Russians, 54%, do not approve of the Ministry of Defense’s decision to reduce the number of military departments in the country’s universities. This is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by the Yuri Levada Analytical Center. According to the results of the study, 28% of respondents were in favor of reduction. At the same time, sociologists note that recently the number of opponents of this decision of the military leadership has decreased slightly - in April 58% of respondents did not approve of it. Speaking about the possible consequences of reducing military departments, one in three (33%) said that this would lead to increased corruption and an increase in the number and size of bribes for release from service. 21% of respondents believe that graduates will lose their professional skills after a year of service. Another 12% are afraid that the most capable and proactive young people will leave the country due to cuts. At the same time, 30% of respondents are confident in the fairness of this decision, since everyone will serve in the army: both those who have received a higher education and those who do not have the opportunity to receive it.
