On October 3, the Federal State Statistics Service published the results of a study of consumer expectations of the population. In general, 21.6% of respondents assessed the economic changes taking place in the country positively. If the survey results are valid for all citizens, then the number of people satisfied with economic transformations can be estimated at 30.9 million people. Thus, 112.1 million Russians (an average of 8 out of 10 people) believe that the country’s economy is not developing well enough. Meanwhile, a year ago, 25.9% of respondents (37.2 million people) gave a positive assessment of the reforms. Consequently, the number of citizens dissatisfied with economic transformations increased over the year by 5.8 million people, which is comparable to the population of St. Petersburg. It turns out that every minute the number of dissatisfied Russians increases by an average of 11 people. If this trend does not change, then, given the population decline by 0.5 million people per year, all Russian citizens will be dissatisfied with the economic transformations in the country within 5 years. If we assume that one hundred percent discontent of the population necessarily leads to a change of government, then if current trends continue, the revolution in Russia will take place in 2010.
