The cause of the disease in Volgograd students of the “Leader” lyceum may be salmonellosis. This was reported on Monday in the administration of the Volgograd region.

The investigation conducted the day before showed that the cause of the outbreak of infection, as a result of which 120 children and one adult RIA Novosti were injured on October 28.

Immediately after the hospitalization of children, an operational group was created in the area. The dining room of the lyceum was sealed, samples of food products were seized.

Earlier, the chairman of the regional health committee, Yevgeny Anishchenko, said that "preliminary diagnosis is acute gastroenterocolite of an unclear etiology, and any intestinal infection can be under this diagnosis."

The first results of laboratory research will be ready today in the afternoon. Experts believe that they will help to identify the true cause of an infectious outbreak in the regional center.

On Monday, training sessions at the Lyceum "Leader" were not canceled. As for the provision of the lyceum products, this issue was completely taken by the district administration, Arakelyan said.
