The State Duma returned the guardhouse

The State Duma approved at the plenary meeting three government bills of the first reading, determining the restoration of the guardhouse in the army, where military personnel will be placed by a court decision for up to 30 days, a Polit.ru correspondent reports.

Previously, this was done by decision of the commander for up to 10 days.

During the lack of legal mechanisms for applying disciplinary arrest to the number of gross violations of military discipline, such as unauthorized excommunication, drinking alcohol, violation of the authorized rules of service and relationships increased significantly. Moreover, there is a tendency to systematically commit the same military personnel of the same violations, since they did not suffer a significant punishment for their misconduct.

The draft federal law "On the procedure for applying disciplinary arrest to military personnel" determines the procedure for the commander of the military unit by the commander of the military on the commission of a rude disciplinary offense and sending them to the garrison military court. Before the court’s decision, the commander may detain the guilty for 48 hours. The document was supported by 403 deputies, one refrained.
