Tamara Rokhlina, accused of murdering her husband, State Duma deputy General Lev Rokhlin, will receive 8 thousand euros from the Russian government in the coming days as compensation for moral damage caused to her. The widow's lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, told reporters about this.

The defender recalled that in April of this year. The European Court of Human Rights upheld T. Rokhlina's complaint. The court recognized that her right “to a fair trial within a reasonable time” was violated and ordered Russia to pay compensation to the victim in the amount of 8 thousand euros. November 1 this year this decision was confirmed by the court itself after considering the protest of the representative of the Russian Federation Pavel Laptev.

According to A. Kucherena, one of these days his client will open a bank account to which the money will be transferred.

Today, at a hearing in the Narofominsk City Court, the state prosecutor, during the debate between the parties, demanded that T. Rokhlina be sentenced to 4 years in prison and asked to be found guilty as charged. According to A. Kucherena, the accusation was far-fetched, so he insisted on an acquittal.

The lawyer believes that the verdict will be announced next week.

Let us recall that Tamara Rokhlina is accused of murdering her own husband, General Lev Rokhlin, State Duma deputy, leader of the Movement in Support of the Army, who was killed on July 3, 1998. at his dacha in the Moscow region. The Narofominsk court found the general's wife, T. Rokhlina, guilty of committing this crime, sentencing her to 8 years in prison. However, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation on June 7, 2001. overturned the sentence, releasing T. Rokhlina from custody on his own recognizance, and sent the case for a new trial.

T. Rokhlina’s lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, stated that “the main witness for the prosecution, Lev Rokhlin’s bodyguard Alexander Pleskachev, was untruthful during the investigation, and the involvement in the crime of the soldier who was in the house on the night of the murder was not verified.” On the night of the murder, in addition to the murdered man, his wife and security guard, there was also a conscript soldier, Roman Malikov, at the dacha. The lawyer also argued that the spouses had an excellent relationship, as a result of which Tamara Rokhlina had no motive to kill her husband. And Rokhlina’s daughter Elena accused the Prosecutor General’s Office of bias and stated that during the investigation, pressure was put on her and her husband, General Sergei Abramov.

In July 2001 T. Rokhlina filed an application with the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, in which she asked to be considered innocent and demanded compensation for moral damage of $5 million.

In connection with a suicide attempt in October 2003. a repeat comprehensive psychological and psychiatric inpatient examination of T. Rokhlina was scheduled. The trial in this case has been going on for 6 years.
