The Ministry of Natural Resources proposes to cancel the restrictions on deforestation in Russia

The Ministry of Natural Resources proposes to significantly increase the percentage of forests permitted to the wheelhouse by canceling a number of excess restrictions, Yuri Trutnev, Minister of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation at a meeting of the Government, said on Thursday at a meeting of the Government.

According to the minister, at present in Russia only 42% of forests are allowed to cut, while in Finland - about 90%. According to the minister, it is necessary to bring the Russian level of forests permitted to the trigger, to which it is necessary to cancel the existing classification of forests by categories, ITAR-TASS reports.

The Minister said that the total stocks of wood in Russia exceed 80 billion cubic meters, of which 44 billion cubic meters are suitable for cutting. According to the Trutnev department, about half of the forest fund suitable for the wheelbreaking is excluded from economic use as a result of the current classification.

The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources added that in order to increase the volume of wood development, it is also necessary to take measures to develop a network of forest roads. According to the minister, the estimated Forestry of Russia is 564 million hectares, of which 250 million hectares are economically beneficial for cutting, and only 130 million hectares are available for forest use from the point of view of the availability of vehicles. Trutnev said that for the first time 150 million rubles were for the first time in the budget-2006 budget for the development of a network of forest roads, but these funds are not enough, and additional assistance from the constituent entities of the Russian Federation is needed.

Trutnev also suggested abandoning the state monopoly for forestry and take additional measures to combat illegal cutting of the forest. Also, the Ministry of Natural Resources proposes to develop the federal target program "Forest of Russia", which should coordinate the work in this area of ​​4 ministries - the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Economic Development.
